Our Story

Our story begins with a Polish immigrant who came to Colorado looking to start a new life and with it, new business pursuits. Wolf Pomeranz came to the United States and settled in Lamar, CO.  He established a business selling cars and peddling goods out of the apartment over a garage. Once he was settled and making good money, Wolf returned to Poland to bring his wife and four children back to Colorado.

As the kids got older, in the mid 1920s, Wolf decided to move the family to Denver to be closer to a big city. It was at that time that Wolf began to acquire various apartment buildings, and warehouses including Panama Apartments, The Bermuda, and even some property in Breckenridge. Max, Wolf’s oldest son, was working closely with his dad in the family business. In the 1930s, A Pomeranz Realty was established.

Max continued to run the business, buying up properties and working closely with his father, Wolf. Abe and his brother Morris worked together as well and contributed to the family business. Their patriarch, Wolf, passed away sometime in the 1950s and left the Pomeranz children with the business he had started as a new immigrant.

In 1961, Max and his siblings decided to part ways. Max and his sons sold the Panama Apartments and much of the Pomeranz portfolio to start their own corporation. Morris and Abe continued to work together and cultivate their share of the company which they also shared with their sister, Rose.  The brothers expanded their portfolio of apartment buildings and even built two buildings from the ground up in the mid 1970s. Abe’s spouse joined the business as the Pomeranz’s in-house bookkeeper. And the family business continued on.

Over time, Abe passed on the business to his daughter.  After Abe passed away in 2003, his daughter was running the day-to-day operations and then in 2004 her youngest son, Dan, left his job managing a valet parking company to learn the ropes at A Pomeranz Realty.  In 2019, after 30 years as an elementary school teacher, Dan’s sister Amy joined as the newest team member. You might even see the next generation around, as some of them are tenants at A Pomerzanz Realty, just like you.

At A Pomeranz Realty, family matters!
